This is my story. It has been 25 years since I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and they gave me a 30% chance of making it. I was 36 years old, married with 3 children. My oldest girl was 15, another daughter 13, and my son was 6. At that point, all I wanted was to see my oldest graduate from high school. Luckily, I have seen all of them graduate from college and the two oldest get married and have their own children.

I have done a lot of volunteering for the American Cancer Society since all this happened. I had gone to the I Can Cope classes in another county when I was first was diagnosed because our county didn't offer any. That's when I went through training so I could facilitate and set up the program for our county.

I have visited many cancer patients to give them hope by my example, being a cancer survivor myself. I love doing that. I have sat with cancer patient while they were on their journey of death, which isn't hard for me to do if the family wasn't there. No one should be alone to die no matter what.
