Caregiverlist maintains the required standards and qualifications for Senior
Home Care Agencies which the National Private Duty Association requires for
membership.
The National Private Duty Association (NPDA) is the nation's first
association for providers of private duty home care, which includes
non-medical home care services. Members of NPDA must provide caregivers who
are employees of their company and maintain all employment laws which
include: withholding taxes, contributing to Worker's Compensation Insurance,
contributing to Unemployment Insurance, bonding employees and performing
criminal background checks. Caregivers are actively supervised and trained and
follow a Plan of Care created by the Senior Home Care Agency. The Caregivers
are covered by Worker's Compensation Insurance if they are injured on the job and
receive Unemployment benefits if there is a gap in staffing. The Agency will send a
substitute Caregiver if the regular Caregiver must miss a shift.
The National Private Duty Association seeks to enhance the strength and
professionalism of private duty home care providers through education and
development of best practices.
NPDA's Goals:
- Foster ethical business practices through development of Ethical Guidelines
- Improve public image of private duty through a national public education
campaign
- Develop best practices within the home care industry
- Develop core training and education programs
- Share resources among private duty agencies
- Develop a successful political lobby to influence the regulatory environment
