12-year renewal cycle


New photograph and vision test required.

Vision Tests

Minimum acuity 20/40 in one eye required;acuity of 20/60 restricted to daytime only. Bioptic lenses may not be used to meet acuity standard.

Special Requirements

No renewal by mail after age 70 (available to active duty veterans and dependents only.)

Accelerated Renewal

5 years for people 65 and older.
