Senior Care Fraud

Financial abuse is the #1 type of senior abuse. Certain individuals and companies take advantage of both government programs and vulnerable seniors who may be lonely or experiencing memory loss.

Medicare fraud has resulted in billions of dollars in losses. New attention to the lack of checks and balances with Medicare programs is resulting in efforts to create better accountability systems and to report fraudsters.

Protect Yourself: Review Your Medicare Invoices

Always review your Medicare invoices to make sure services and dates are accurate. Report any instances of inappropriate billing or solicitation for unneeded services to the Medicare Whistleblower hotline. Whistleblowers maintain confidentiality when reporting suspected fraud.
