Caregiving Story

Mrs. Barker

Mrs. Barker is an awesome person.
Even though I am not taking care of her anymore, I still visit her and love her to death because she is the sweetest grandma I have ever met.

Just to remember every time she opened the door when I arrived, saying, "I knew it was you," and other times she would say, "I was waiting for you," made my day. I could be having a rough day and just to hear her voice would made my day happy and it stayed that way.

I cried all the way home on my last day with her. They can ask us not to get attached to these wonderful people--that at times some of them could be hard work. But I think that one day I too would probably need help like them, and I want someone to be nice to me, too.

I remember she liked to watch Dr. Phil and she would made me watch it with her. Sometimes I'd have to clock out and watched it and then finish the little I had left to do. She could not understand that I was getting paid to work and not to watch TV.

I missed that little lady soooo much!
