Caregiving Story

Connie Stevens

I worked as a live-in Caregiver with Connie through the last stages of her life. She finally became so ill that senior home care wasn't enough and she was moved to a nursing home for her final days.

Until then, I made her laugh and created a joyful envirnment so she could live, as much as possible, with the idea that she was getting better so she could enjoy her life.

I then worked with a man in Huntington, WV, who was 91. I reviewed the medicine he was taking and after talking with his Doctors, he was taken off some of his medicines and he moved from being in the fetal position for years to being able to move around the house, gingerly, of course.

Caregiving has been fulfilling for me as I am a compassionate person and also a friend to the people I work with.
