Caregiving Story

Patrcia Chiles

She was my first patient and disabled. Pat was a handful and set in her ways and also a bit bitter but after awhile I adjusted to her as well as she did me. I loved her. She wasn't so much of a senior but I could tell she didn't like the deal of depending on someone. She had a trust barrier that crumbled over time as we spent more time together. She talked to me a lot about what she was like growing up and shared her story on how her situation came about. I had never worked a day in my life, then I was single and had nothing and I felt lost. Then I realized I had always taken care of everyone else and my path is to be a caregiver. And this is the work I love and am grateful to help others for a living.
