Caregiving Story

Janet communicated non-verbally and was very combative. However, she also was very easy to understand if she was kept on a regular schedule. She enjoyed knowing what was next. It kept her calm . She felt in control. I respected her for that. Janet appreciated me talking to her and my patience. Her father was in his 90's and could not give her the attention she needed. She had Cerebral Palsey. She was a very special client. She shared an apartment with 2 other ladies, Weezie and Rose. Weezie was a quadraplegic who was 28-years-old (the same age as me at the time), so we had a lot in common. Rose was a Bipolar/Schizophrenic. Together, they lived in peace and harmony with me as their hands, feet and brain(for the most part). For 2 years, I gave up my life to these ladies to make sure they smiled and felt loved each and every day. I am looking to provide that same love again as a caregiver to a new client.
