Being Mary's caregiver really changed my life because I continuously saw her struggle on a daily basis. She endured pain that neither she nor I could understand. Not physical pain but emotional pain. She couldn't understand why she wasn't capable of performing duties she once could. She tried so hard to do things on her own even when she knew it wasn't possible. Then after being unsuccessful at her attempt, she would glance at me with this certain melancholy look in her eyes that would touch my heart so deeply.
The look in her eyes made it easy to be there seven days a week just so she could reap the benefits of simple duties such as taking a bath and eating a nice healthy balanced meal. She was my pride and joy and I would love nothing more to care for another senior who just wants to live.
