My friend sat with Ms. Thornberry weekdays she needed someone one weekends. That is how I got this job. Ms. Thornberry was a English teacher for over 40 years. Everyone in her community knew her. She was a very nice lady, easy to care for. She was married at one time for 10 years. It is a sad story.
Her husband developed spine cancer. Back in that day and age, there was no medical technology like today. He died. That was over 50 years ago. She lived a nice life; she traveled. But never met anyone to take his place. She has no children. I enjoyed working for her. She hated to see me go. I moved to New York with my boyfriend.
I will never forget Ms.Thornberry. She taught me a lot just by talking to her. She wrote me a letter of recommendation. It says that she found me to be very caring and also a good cook.
She had a pacemaker put in in November of last year. When she returned home, we asked her what would she like to eat for lunch. She said she wanted me to make her some chicken and dumplings. That was her favorite dish that I cooked for her. I was flattered because she asked me to cook for her.
