Caregiving Story

Mr.Green

My "dear friend" was the name I used to call Mr. Green. At first, when I first was sent to work with Mr. Green, he was difficult and he was resistance to receiving care - it caused him to be angry and shameful. He was a hospice patient and needed the assistance. As he was no longer to do everything for himself, he slowly allowed me to help. The doctor had given him 3 months to live. But as I started to talk to him about things in his life, he began to trust me and to relax. I find it to be the most important stage in caregiving, when the client ccan look up to you and trust you. He began to grow stronger and stronger each day. And then no one could believe how much longer he lived, even though the doctors had given him only three months. But with hope, he lived for an entire year. I have been able to work with many great seniors like Mr. Green and they have given me courage to keep helping the elderly and giving my love and compassion to help them.
