Caregiving Story

with held

I had a very challenging client, she would yell, scream, call me all types of names. One time, I stepped away and she was half way out the bed, even though she couldn't walk. I would do the best I knew to make her last days happy. I figured why should I keep her in bed, so I put her in her wheelchair and walked her around and she was normal again, for that moment. To make a long story short, she gave me a hard time while I was with her but always cried for me while I was gone. No matter how mad she got at me each day, the smile she gave me when I walked in the room made it all worth it. The meaning of this story is to always treat your seniors clients as if they were your own grandparent or parent, because every little thing matters and it really does make a difference!!
