Caregiving Story

Pilar Troy

My Name is Maria Brady and am a CCA Caregiver and started with an agency 2 years ago. They placed me with a client named Pilar Troy who was 83 at the time and had symptoms of Dementia but had a beautiful smile and loved life and music. She was a State Audit so she had beautiful clothes of which I used to love to dress her in. She loved companionship and bright colorful books. I used to take her for walks, listen to music, and feed her her favorite muffins and coffee in the morning.

I was with her for three nights in 12 hr. shifts so she loved me being there. She would hold my hand and give me lots of kisses all the time. She developed a very high fever and Pneumonia and died 3 weeks ago. Her name was the same as my grandma who also died 5 years ago, so this client was very special to me. I am going to miss her very much. I am grateful to have blessed with a great person.
