Caregiving Story

Daisy Fairacloth

I got interested in this line of work because I had a grandfather who died of cancer and had hospice nurses come in and care for him. I thought about how much it meant to him to have all of his family and friends and even his nurses around during his last days and I decided to try to become a caregiver. I finally found a family that gave me the opportunity to care for their loved one and I grew as a part of their family and they as mine.

I loved Mrs. Fairacloth as if she was my own grandmother. In 2006, when she passed, I began to look into working in an assisted living facility. I had my doubts that a company would hire someone without medical training. Well, they did. I loved it and cared for my residents and I was there for them. I would love to get back into this line of work and to give my love to a family.
