Caregiving Story

Agness Carrick

My grandma had fourteen children, who all have their own families. So when she started to lose her memory and hated staying alone, I started staying the nights with her. I had to give her medications to her every night and morning. I also had to make sure her prescriptions were always filled. I worked during the day, so I would always wake her up to make sure she took them. After work I would go back and make her dinner.

I would like to be a caregiver to the elderly. I love helping them. I do have a child now so that would mean I can not stay overnight, unless asked in advance. I do know some about diabetes because my grandma is Type 2 and my boyfriend is Type 1.
