Caregiving Story

Leroy Wells

I have known Leroy for more than 26 years. He has lived with me for the past 2 years. When he moved out of his senior apartment to live with his granddaughter out of state, he would call me everyday and tell me how he was not being fed and that she was taking all of his money. I had just been laid-off from my job. I took the Greyhound bus to Indiana and rented a U-Haul and brought him back to my town to live with me. To be a caregiver, you must first have a lot of patience and love. When seniors grow old this is the time they really need to feel the love and see that in the Caregiver. I know from experience that they can tell if your love is real.
