My father was the most wonderful man. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with cancer and the battle he fought was a tough one. I was living in Texas as our family went through this, and would fly out for weeks at a time to help with the care of my dad. I have been in the medical field (administrative) for many years, but caring for my father was the most humbling experience of my life. I quickly discovered that not only did he need care, which he received by all of his 5 children, but our family needed the care of others as well. We had such a great support group from the Yacht Club my father was a member of, but also from the wonderful staff at the Cancer Center, Hospitals, etc...
After a 3 year battle, we lost our father September 2006.
My husband and I moving to California by the end of November we have found that life is just to precious to be this far away from family and I have decided to look for a position as a caregiver because of what I experienced with my father.
