Her name was Fran and in her lucid moments she remembered her daughter and grandchildren. Her daughter, my neighbor, dedicated 5 full years to her care-- hardly ever leaving the house. Occasionally, her husband would take her to dinner, or she would have an appointment, and I was entrusted with her care. I did not find it disagreeable at all. I raised four children, and changing diapers and such did not bother me in the least.
She was a terrific lady and I was very sorry to see her go. Her daughter loved her very much and gave so much of her time to her care and well being that I commend her for that. I was always willing and able to help her so that she could have a free moment.
I hope I can do the same for someone in a similar situation.
Thanks,
Lourdes Santiago
