Caregiving Story

Ms. lady

Being a Caregiver is more than the job title or job description. It's a chance to come into someone's life and not only take care of them and help them but become a close and trusted friend. There are many that have touched my heart, but everyone has their favorites. Ms. Lady, as she liked to be called, is one of mine. For a whole year we had orange juice mixed with cranberry juice and coffee at six every morning. She had so many stories and pictures to share. Looking through her old photos and having her talk about the good old days always put a smile on her face and you could feel her glowing as she shared her stories. On my days off, my daughter and I would go visit everyone and Ms. Lady, even at her age, knew who I was even when I was not wearing my uniform. Because I took the time to listen and care, I gained a friend who got married in a mini skirt at the age of twenty and lived to be 103.
