Caregiving Story

Fred Siegel, In Memory Of

Age:104
Location:Peoria, AZ
Cared for by:Joanna Vinteler
Years of Care:2

I remember the first day I met Fred Siegel like it all happened yesterday and even though I had never met him before, right away I felt in my heart that I knew him. He was a strong personality, stubborn and demanding at times, but he loved his family very much, even though he didn't show it as often as he wanted to or maybe should have.

I saw an extra smile on his face every time he heard from each and every one of the members of his family. He used to talk for days after they would come over to visit with him and Myrtle, his wife.

Myrtle, his dear wife,(she is 97 years old, going on 98) is the light of his being. There wasn't an hour passing by without him asking for her or talking about her. There wouldn't go a night without them hugging and sharing their love. All I can say from what both of them have told me that they have shared a wonderful life together and, one day, when the time is right, they will rejoin in happiness and bliss in heaven...
For me, a simple stranger, he is a friend and an amazing person. He was the grandfather I always craved for. I love him so...
We often sang together, we laughed and danced along in joy. He used to tell me many interesting stories from the past and I enjoyed each one of them. He will always be in my heart and in my prayers.
I believe that everything happens for a reason and the fact that I had the opportunity to know and grow along with him made me believe how blessed I am to have met him. I will always cherish the moments we had together. Their love and devotion are my very best example for the foundation of my life's principles.
This is the way I know Fred Siegel. He may have died in flesh but his spirit is still alive, now free and around us. He walks among angels in presence of our God in Heaven (probably went fishing with his best friend, Dick Furgeson -
I love you and I miss you)!
We shall all see you again when time will come...
With love and respect,
Jo
